LedgerChat vs Xero
Books you actually keep.
Xero is built for a desk and a bookkeeper. This is built for the twenty seconds between customers, in the app already on your phone.
First, what Xero is better at
Xero is well-made software with bank feeds, reconciliation, payroll and a genuine accountant ecosystem around it. If a bookkeeper works in your file every month, keep it — this is not that, and replacing it with this would be a downgrade.
Reconciliation assumes there is something to reconcile
Xero is built around the bank feed: transactions arrive, you match them off, the month closes. That is a good design for a business whose money moves through an account. For a business paid in cash it is a screen that stays empty while the real records sit in a notebook — you are paying for reconciliation and doing the bookkeeping somewhere else. Payroll and filing are separate questions, and if you need those, keep what you have.

Do not switch if
- You want your bank feeding transactions in automatically. LedgerChat has no bank connection and is not going to guess.
- You run payroll. It does not do payroll and does not pretend to.
- You file your own VAT or tax returns from your software. LedgerChat keeps the records; something else does the filing.
- Your accountant works inside your books with you. They will get a complete PDF export, which is not the same thing.
It is worth a try if
- You are paying for Xero and doing the books in a notebook anyway.
- Nobody reconciles anything, because nobody has time.
- You are a one-person business and the software was built for a finance team.
- The value you wanted was "know what I earned and who owes me", and you are paying for far more than that.
Questions
- Does it reconcile bank transactions?
- No. There is no bank feed, so there is nothing to reconcile against. You record what happened as it happens, which is a different discipline and a much shorter one.
- Can I run it alongside Xero?
- Some people will: record on the move here, and let the accountant work in Xero from the monthly export. Nothing stops you, and for the first month it is the cautious way to try it.
- What happens to my data if I stop paying?
- You can export everything as a PDF at any time, on every plan, including during the trial. Leaving with your books is not a paid feature.
- Is there a mobile app?
- No, and that is the point. It runs in WhatsApp, which is already installed, already signed in, and already open.
